Sometimes I do really embarrassing things in Target
So you know that moment when you are dressed to the nines and you're feeling really hot, right? Strutting your stuff. Okay, so picture me doing that. I'm dressed in this outfit (my new fave dress, purchased for $14.00 thankyouverymuch):
I was the DD during the day on Sunday so people could have some bloody mary's and all of that jazz at brunch. What I'm trying to say is I was SOBER. No excuses.
We stopped at Target for people who needed to use the ATM and so I decided it would be a good idea to use the restroom. I take care of my business, wash my hands, walk out of the bathroom, PAST ALL OF THE REGISTERS WITH LINES FULL OF PEOPLE.
A woman taps me on the shoulder and whispers something in my ear because this is what was going down (or up?):
My entire butt was showing, as in, the back of my dress was completely tucked into my undies. And let me just tell you, it was not just five steps out of the bathroom, I was almost to the doors.
I know what you're thinking...didn't I feel a breeze? Um, no. Like I said, I thought I was hot shit. I wasn't even thinking about the free-flowing air on my badonkadonk.
I did what any normal person would do. Pulled my dress out and ran my recently-bare ass out of the doors as fast as possible.
All I can say - my friends who were in Target with me and didn't notice - I hate you. Just kidding. Kind of.

Mommy-Brain Mixer #6
Although I'm already linked up with a different post below, I still wanted to give a little shout out to my favorite subjects, my two boys.
With Jonas' newfound mobility, it has been interesting to watch how Gabriel handles it all. The once well-mannered, generous brother is now becoming very...intolerant of Jonas' interest in any toys that he himself is playing with.
I'm not stressing about it because I know that they will (have to) get over it, so I just sit back, watch and cover my mouth to hide my giggling as I watch Gabriel hoard all of his toys beneath his shirt. Seriously, it's more entertaining than half of the stuff on Netflix!
If you haven't noticed, one of my favorite things to do here at Two In Diapers is to share stories about motherhood and my littles. One of my favorite things about sharing these stories is your comments with stories of your own children!
Welcome to...
We want to see funny posts, serious posts, sweet & sappy stories, mommy-brain episodes, memories from when your older children were younger, thoughts & lessons learned, and anything related to motherhood or little people. You know that post you wrote yesterday about your teething baby? Or that hilarious post you wrote about your 2nd grader's school play? Those are perfect, so link 'em up!
Head on over there after your finished here and link up your recipes, DIY, arts & crafts, and sensory activities!
If you are interested in co-hosting a Mommy-Brain Mixer, send me an email at twoindiapers@gmail.com!
DIY Child's Growth Chart
This project in total cost me less than $10 to complete both charts. Not bad, I would say!
This is the type of board I used:
They are inexpensive (read: cheap) pieces of wood, costing less than $5 each at Home Depot. Luckily, I had my trusty, handy husband who so kindly offered to sand the corners down to create a rounded top and then sanded the entire board down to a smooth finish. He really is a keeper.
I ended up digging through my leftover paint stash and just went with the regular white color that I used my snowman project around Christmas time. After they dried, I grabbed Adrian's long wood-working measure stick to make 1 in. increments on the board with a permanent marker.
As you'll notice (or maybe not), the board only goes up to 6'4". I'm thinking that I'll probably add a couple more lines at the top because our boys are supposed to get pretty tall (hello, 6'5" husband). Our pediatrician has predicted that both boys will be anywhere from 6'4 - 6'8! I want these boards to last as long as possible...
I used the marker to write each of their birthdays along the bottom left side.
The names were stenciled on with pencil, painted with some of the paint I have on hand and traced again with the marker. I really wanted them to pop, hence the outlining.

Completely un-newsworthy news
We have been so incredibly busy with bachelor/bachelorette parties, wedding showers, weddings (we're headed to another one this weekend!) and family events, I am so disappointed that I've hardly made any sort of a dent in my summer kids' to-do list.
Let's not even talk about the fact that my house is a disorganized disaster! Literally, it's like Hurricane Isaac swept through here before heading east. Around the middle of July, I just got really
My excuse has been that we were supposed to be moving in September so why bother cleaning...but now it's looking like our move won't happen until October due to our potential seller moving at the pace of a snail's gallop.
So I had my interview today and frankly, I'm not really sure what to think. I walked in to see our good friend sitting on the panel and you'd think that would have made things easier, right? Nope. I clammed up like no other clam has clammed up before. I mean, I am a decent BSer and I pretty much knew what I was talking about, so it's mostly just nerves. I want this job. Or at least want the option to have it.
Oh, PS, I'm co-hosting Mommy Mixer tomorrow with Cassie at Two in Diapers. Make sure to stop by and link up your fave posts!
Anyway, I'm sure this was the most interesting post you've ever read in your lives.

Influenster Latina Beauty VoxBox
Because I'm extremely awesome and cool (riiiight). It's kind of like being the first one picked in PE, except lots of people were picked and this is way better because I get free stuff. So anyway, the second I opened my mailbox and found this sitting there, I pulled it out and immediately started ripping through the box.
List of products:
- Veet Ready-To-Use Wax Strips
- Always Radiant Infinity Pads and Kit (one for me, one for a friend!)
- NYC Liquid Lip Shine - Nude York City
- Hawaiian Tropic Sunscreen
- Bath and Body Works Shower Gel - Paris Amour
The lip shine is the bomb: tastes good and has a pretty shine with just a hint of color. I'm actually quite obsessed. So obsessed, in fact, that it encouraged me to take silly photos of myself wearing it. This is the only one that made the cut...
The Veet strips, on the other hand, waaaan waaaan waaaaaaan...is all I have to say about that. I was most excited about this product and planned to use these right before my Napa trip. I waited and waited for my hair to grow up (disgusting, by the way), woke up Thursday morning and smoothed the strip onto my leg.
RRrrrriiip! After muttering a few obscenities, I glanced down with a grand feeling of satisfaction only to be disappointed. Tons of little hairs where they should not have been. After trying five more times, I gave up. To Veet's defense, the hairs that were actually pulled are coming back at a turtle's pace, but it just wasn't worth it to finish.
The Hawaiian Tropic SPF smells delicious and also serves as a great moisturizer. I'm not very good about putting on SPF so this is an easy way to get a double whammy, smooth and protected skin. The shower gel smells delicious and I could definitely see myself buying it in full version.

Neighbor's 3-year old is seemingly home alone. What would you do?
She looked like she had been crying and yelled to me from the opposite sidewalk that her mommy, daddy and grandpa were not home, then tried to cross the street. Of course, I ran to her and checked that cars were not approaching. I immediately recognized her as a little girl in Gabriel's class, guessing she must be around 3-4 years old.
I called Adrian to let him know what was going on, since he was inside getting ready and I figured that he would wonder what I was up to if he saw my car at the house but not me. The only thing I could think to do was leave a note and bring her back to my house, because let me tell you. If I walked into my house and some stranger was hanging out with my kids, I'm pretty sure I would lose my ish.
We walked in and I yelled out several times, but nothing. The whole situation was just bizarre. The little girl wanted to put clothes on and started stripping down. Mommy instinct kicked in so I helped her but at the back of my mind, I couldn't help but wonder what her parents would think if they walked in.
Luckily, a few minutes later the neighbor drove up and I ran out to question him about the parents. He was able to give me a phone number for the grandpa who lived across the street and when he came out to meet and speak with me, I was shocked to find out that the little girl's mother was upstairs asleep. I could tell by his tone and attitude that he was disgusted by the whole situation. He took her back to the house and the mother called me about 20 minutes later to apologize and thank me.
At the end of the day, the little girl is okay and maybe I'm making a mountain out of a molehill. She was taken care of and everything worked out fine, but I just can't help but think of the "could-have-beens"... What if the person who found her had been some dirty perverted slimeball and not me? Or the drug cartel wanting to use her as a mule (we live 10 minutes from Mexico, it happens, as awful as it sounds)? Or what if she had made it to that road and was hit by a car?
So now the question begs, do I do anything about this? I honestly hadn't considered anything until after I spoke with my mom, who immediately asked if I was going to report the situation to CPS. My husband, on the other hand, sidles more on the edge of not getting involved in other peoples' business. I was thinking that maybe I would invite her over for a play date and try to get to know the family.
I feel for the mother - being a mom is exhausting and there are a million possible explanations for why she overslept like she did. Everybody makes mistakes; hell, parenting is all about trial and error. However, I can't imagine what I would feel if something happened to that sweet little girl, knowing that I had a weird feeling about the whole situation and didn't do anything.

Napa Valley Bachelorette Party Weekend
I don't think I've ever truly realized how blessed I am to have the friends that I do. Several of those girls you'll see in these pictures, I've known for about 15 years. Actually, the oldest friend I have is in these pictures...19 YEARS.
The trip was an amazing way to celebrate Nicole's bachelorette party and frankly, I want to plan a trip to go back in February with Adrian. That good. She was glowing the entire time and we all had such a blast.
On Friday, the girls and I drove up, leaving at 5am and rolled into Napa around 2:30pm. We stopped at Oakville Grocery store, best idea ever! It had an outside market with fruit for our sangria, bloody marys, sandwiches, sausages and anything else you can think of. We met one of the fruit stand workers who ended up hooking us up all weekend with sake bombs, too many drinks and a whole bag of free fruit.
Our first stop on Saturday was to Chandon. Quite the classy joint and I'm happy we were sober at the time! We drank sparkling wine, ate oysters and kicked off the day properly.
After Chandon, we hopped into our
After Oakville Grocery, we headed to V. Sattui - not the best winery for many reasons. Too busy, not great wine, bad service. We still tasted and it was fine...but the best was yet to come!
You won't see pictures of our last stop to Merryvale because it was quite the shit show, as most bachelorette parties are. Let's just say, by the end of the tasting, we had gotten the person who was pouring wine drunk and we were all pouring our own drinks.
Sunday was the exclamation point of the weekend...I would do that day over and over and over and over for life. It started off at brunch, Fume Bistro, where we enjoyed delicious bloody marys with the world's best quiche and potatoes. Afterwards, we broke into a smaller group of just 7 while everyone else made the trek home and headed to Oakville Grocery to split a bottle of wine before our last tasting of the weekend.
Cade is a winery that allows tasting by appointment only, unlike the others we went to. You wind up through the beautiful vineyards for about 30 minutes, climb to the topside of a mountain and look over all of the luscious vines. It was amazing.
That's pure joy. Pretty sure we all felt that!
The final and probably my favorite event of the weekend was going to Bottega for dinner, a restaurant owned by celebrity chef, Michael Chiarello. We, of course, were super nerdy and asked all of the waitstaff if he'd be in. Unfortunately, we never got a glimpse but we DID eat some to-die-for food. From the appetizers to the last bite of our meal (okay, dessert wasn't spectacular but oh well!), the wine...everything.
It means congratulations in Italian, just for the bride!
No, no, no, let's not go home ever!
It was just...ahh...no words. I missed my boys tremendously and by Monday, I was pretty ready to be with them. However, I loved every second of this unforgettable weekend. Now I just can't wait until their wedding!!

Guest Post: Can we be friends?
You don't know me but here you are welcoming me into your home, your day, your life. My name is Gina and this is my first blog post ever. My family is my life: my husband, my 3 y/o son, Luc and my 14 y/o four-legged baby girl, Isabelle. Hi, very nice to meet you! I am very honored you are reading this...
While I was pondering what to write for my guest blog, a recurring thought went through my mind... friendship. Family is family - you may love them, most are strange and some are dysfunctional, but there is no picking them. Friends on the other hand, are completely yours for the picking. Do you make friends easy? Do you find it easier or harder as you get older? Do you loose touch with friends? Are you a good friend or are you the one who is always in need of a good friend? I used to find it easier to make friends. I always had a best friend in school. Still have a very close friendship with my girlfriend from high school who supports me almost as much as my own mother! When I worked in an office, I was part of a group of young professionals and we all shared a common thread, WORK! But then I got married, moved away and from there it got more prickly. Friendships may still be strong, but the daily interaction, the soundboard I've relied on has become less frequent or even nonexistent. Maybe its family responsibilities, long distance or differing schedules; life gets complicated and friendship becomes confusing.
I've recently gotten more involved with social media. For me, social media has become a world where people share, give and encourage each other consistently. Its empowering, fulfilling and uplifting. I surround myself with positive messages, inspirational quotes and supportive jabber between "SMfriends". Since I work from home, I find the daily interactions on Twitter and Facebook very engaging. I've read the reminders that social media is not real life, but is it wrong that I'm hoping my social media friends will eventually become my real life friends? Note that I DID meet my husband online, and that seemed to have worked in my favor! In the meantime, I am working on building new friendships in the real world, too. I've joined Meetup groups and have started some very healthy, active friendships from there (is it irony to start them on the internet though?). I'm planning on getting more involved with church and even signed up to volunteer with a nonprofit I used to be more involved with. I've also reached out more to my old friends and made time to reconnect. Although I am very limited in my own personal time, I am a normal, active woman, who loves having supportive friends and would do anything for a close friend, so as friends go, I'm really a good "catch". My good friend Ellie once asked when we were in our mid-twenties... "Remember when we were kids and you could go up to another girl and ask, 'Can we be friends?' and then proceed to skip onto the playground together hand in hand?" Ah, that is the simplicity of friendship!
